RECIPE: ZEBRA CHOCOLATE CAKE!

July 14, 2017

Hi everyone!

Sometimes we need to celebrate ourselves like its our birthday, even if its not! That is why I decided to make something sweet and fun today and celebrate the upcoming weekend, being alive, passing my drivers test or what ever else that is good and positive in my life! You can do the same! Pour that glass of wine and start baking!

The cake I decided to make is the one we all have seen on those tasty Instagram accounts - THE ZEBRA CAKE! This is such a fantastic surprise-inside cake and a fun alternative to a traditional chocolate and vanilla marbled cake.

You will need:

INGREDIENTS
  • 4 eggs

  • 1 cup of sugar

  • 1 cup of milk

  • 1 cup oil

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 cups of all purpose flour

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • 4 tbsps chocolate powder

  • 1 chocolate bar

  • 1 Philadelphia cream cheese

  • 1 whipped cream

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. In a bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar until forming a fluffy and clear mixture.

  3. Add milk, oil and the vanilla extract. Continue beating.

  4. In another bowl, mix the flour with the baking powder.

  5. Add the flour mixed with the baking powder gradually to the egg mixture and stir gently.

  6. Divide the dough into two and add chocolate powder to one half.

  7. Grease, with non sticky spray a round pan.

  8. Pour the vanilla half of the dough in the center of the pan. Over it, pour the chocolate half of the dough. Repeat the process, alternating, until you run out of dough. (I DID THIS IN 2 ROUND PANS AS i WANTED TO ACHIEVE THE LAYERED AFFECT)

  9. Bake for 40 minutes or until you pierce the center with a toothpick and it comes out clean

  10.  Once the layers have baked, let them cool down for 30 min

  11. Cut the upper crust of your cake and spread the melted chocolate mixed with cream cheese over it

  12. Put your second layer over it and repeat the process

  13. spread the remaining cream cheese and chocolate mix over and around the cake

  14. decorate with whipped cream and sprinkles!

VOILA! ENJOY!
